Law Enforcement & Community Relations Initiative

This initiative focuses on bringing the perspective of impacted communities and successful law enforcement and youth programming to the culture of the police and sheriff’s departments to ensure racial equity is prioritized, community trust is rebuilt, and the school to prison pipeline is dismantled.

Recent Milestones:

  • Group members took a field trip to Alameda County’s Deputy Sheriff’s Activities League (DSAL), where we learned how our neighboring County uses novel methods to build relationships with the community.

  • Supported the development of the PACE Plan

  • Hosted the second annual Community All-Stars Event, where over 200 community members participated in fun activities with local law enforcement, learned about community resources from 12 partner CBOs, and enjoyed free food!

  • Create the first-ever youth Community All-Stars Committee to help develop and grow youth leadership in collaboration with Siena Youth Center, Sheriff Activities League, Pal Center, and Redwood City Together youth.

  • Supported hosting 2024 Youth Town Hall at Sequoia High Schools by providing youth engagement, youth facilitators, and sharing feedback.
